Our new world.

As the world moves on around us we are still blissfully enjoying having two children in our house. Bryson has not gotten over how much he wants to kiss and hold his sister. He runs to her every time she cries and wants to do anything he can to help. Nallia is changing and growing up by the day. Today we took her to Drew’s work to meet the extended family. We also took her for lab work at the hospital and a weight check at the lactation clinic. She did wonderfully and loves being in the car, she is either looks around or sleeping.

We picked up Bryson from school where he came running out wanting to see his sister. Amazingly both kids slept for about an hour while Drew and I cleaned up and had lunch. We had a late afternoon visit from the midwife and the Drew and Bryson washed the truck and went to see the tractors building a street and herd of alpaca down the street, (I think that is only something you would she in McKinleyville!) while Nallia and I rested.

After Bryson’s bath, he was ready to help with Nallia’s first bath. He brought over his stool and his camera and helped wash her. She seemed very much as easy which is very different from Bryson’s first bath at home where he just screamed.

Mama

As life becomes a new normal, we are still so blown away by the great love and support that our community continues to show. We have had meals for the last three nights and various gifts from a basket of fresh strawberries, fresh eggs, bread and everything/anything pink.

I am sure more pictures will come soon but here is one Drew took on the walk with Bryson.

Nallia weighed and measured

I took this video while the midwifes were gathering the vital stats of Nallia.

Here we are. Just 24 hours ago we were calling the midwives to come. After a day or so of on and off contractions things really got going around 10pm last night, one of our lovely midwives got to the house about 10:45. I labored in the birth tub and the shower for just a short time. My water broke at 1am and here she came at 1:18am.

Drew caught her and as you can see from some of the photos she was happy and wide eyed from the start. We woke Bryson up shortly afterward and he was very happy to see a new sister. He had tons of fun roaming the house in the early morning getting away with just about anything while I was cleaned up and Nallia was checked over.

After all calmed down about 5am, we got just a few hours of sleep and B was off to school. Drew checked-in at work and we made a few phone calls. This afternoon was filled with super helpful visits from Brooke and the boys, Jamie and Debbie. Now Bryson is fast asleep and poor Drew has worked his tail off all night and day to help me and care for Bryson, he has even managed to get pictures ready to upload!

So we are off to bed our first night as parent of two! A crazy boy and sweet little girl. How wonderful!

We have posted pics.

!!!WARNING!!! These are labor and birth photos, there is some nudity. PG-13 (that happens at births 🙂 )

Mom and baby are doing well. Bryson is VERY excited about having a little sister.

Check back for pictures and the details.

IMG_1514.JPGWe got a new fancy camera last year. It was dropped a couple of times and stopped working correctly. It can’t zoom/unzoom, get into the menu system, or change anything. We replaced it with the same model and put the “broken” one away.

Well the other day I grab it because I couldn’t find the “working” one. Bryson wanted to take some pictures too. Since then this had become his camera. He will grab it, turn it on and take photos.

Well take a look at some of his masterpieces.

Spring Showers

We had some spring showers recently. They kept us inside almost all day. The sky cleared up and we put rain boots on Bryson and went for a walk. Shortly after we found puddles.

Lamb Chop Update

Well I guess we have unofficially started counting down to being a family of 4. It has hit us that Lamp Chop will soon be coming into this world in just over two months and we have done nothing to prepare!

This weekend we bought a new crib and I have started making room for baby things by weeding through and getting rid of extra junk and toys. I have packed away a few boxes of toys and Bryson has not even noticed so I guess he is just find without them. I have also ALMOST finished my clinical hours for my Lactation Consultant program and this week I have had time to clean, or at least make a mess before I can clean, and go for one long walk, organize some small things and tonight, I even have dinner cooking in the crock pot.

As for the baby, Lamb Chop is doing well. Everything seems to be normal. We were at both the Midwife’s and Doctor’s offices this week, heart rate is in the low 130’s and he/she is very active just like B was. Bryson really loves going to the visits and hearing “the noise” he can also tell you all sorts of odd information, some of it made up, about the baby. By his remarks at the playground you would know more about the Lamb Chop then I do. Today, he asked an older kid, about 9, “Are you a big brother?” The very nice boy was like “Yes, that is my little sister Chloe” Bryson went on to say he is a big brother, his baby is happy and sometime sleeps. He loves the baby and shares his toys. Then asked the boy to play in the sand with him, which this kid did very nicely. The mom next to me turned and asked how old my other child was, I had to explain I was not due for another two months. Guess she didn’t notice the basketball under my shirt or thought I was going to have 3 under 3??

A True Daddy Day

I’m sitting here in Brysons room with the light off and listening to him fall asleep thinking how this was a rare true daddy day. I had the day off and Kit was in SF for her lactation course. We really had a fun day. We went to a really cool park in Arcata, did boy stuff like wash the truck and to go to the car dealership (which has a merry go round that Bryson got to ride for the first time) and went to to ice cream. We were the only ones riding and got to ride for along time. Bryson had a huge smile the whole time. I had to give the signal that I had enough. Showing Bryson this is good and bad. The dealership is between Arcata and Eureka on the highway. Bryson will want to stop everytime we make the trip to Euerka. Bryson has fallen alseep and I better quickly cleanup the house before Kit gets home later tonight.

Bryson at Target

Bryson grabbed a pair of sunglasses at Target today. Kits iPhone took the photo.
